What the heck is "Qi-Tonic"?

Great question!  In Chinese herbal medicine, Qi-Tonics are herbs and roots that work primarily as adaptogens and immunostimulants (fancy words for properties of overall balance and immune system boosting, respectively).

An even simpler way to break this down is that a tonic strengthens a system. And "qi" (pronounced "chee") is explained as the vital life force.  So a "Qi-Tonic" is something that strengthens our life force.

There are four main Qi-Tonics in herbal medicine.  The one we use in our soaps in Ginseng.

Why on earth would we put this in soap?

Another great question!  I understand that many people would be skeptical of using a soap that is "good for your qi".  But Ginseng has some surprising skin benefits that are very tangible.

Did you know...

in Korean history, brides would bathe in ginseng water before their wedding to purify and brighten their skin?

Benefits of Ginseng from Modern Skincare Science:

  1. Anti-Aging Benefits - Due to the large amounts of phytonutrients, ginseng can stimulate and activate your skin's metabolism through the antioxidant properties to rid your skin of free radicals and environmental toxins, and boost collagen in the middle layer of your skin, making your skin more elastic and diminishing wrinkles.
  2. Improves Complextion - Ginseng is rich in minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants which helps eliminate dead skin cells and produce new healthy skin.
  3. Great Toner & Treatment of Dark Circles - Ginseng is also a strong anti-inflammatory, which can improve the tone of your skin and reduce the puffiness of under-eye dark circles.

So, that is why we thought it would be a good idea to put it in our soaps.

Ginseng is a natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, skin toning, collagen boosting Qi-Tonic...and one we are proud to provide to you in our soaps.
